Art.1 – Purpose
The Francesco Fabbri Foundation Onlus announces the Francesco Fabbri Prize for Contemporary Arts in order to promote emerging art and contemporary international photographic research.
Art. 2 – Sections and Participation Criteria
The competition is open to all contemporary artists of any nationality, without thematic limitations, according to the criteria provided by each section.
It is possible to register in both sections and/or submit multiple works in the same section.
“EMERGING ART” SECTION
The section is aimed at contemporary authors who have not exceeded 35 years of age on the date of the application deadline, set on September 3rd, 2023. They can participate with any visual expression without language limitations, spanning painting, drawing, graphics, sculpture, installation, video art, performance, sound art and photography.
If two-dimensional, the works cannot exceed the size of 150×150 cm; if three-dimensional, they cannot occupy more than 150x150x150 cm.
Only one work per application may be submitted, which includes installations composed of multiple images, but overall falls within the size limit of 150×150 (for example, a diptych or triptych).
The works will be evaluated by the jury based on qualitative criteria and adherence to contemporary art.
“CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY” SECTION
The section is aimed at authors of any nationality who work with photographic mediums, without age limitations. The Francesco Fabbri Foundation thus strengthens its intervention in the field of contemporary photography, alongside its exhibition and residency activities.
The works cannot exceed the size of 150×150 cm.
Only one work per application may be submitted, which includes installations composed of multiple images, but overall falls within the size limit of 150×150 (for example, a diptych or triptych).
The works will be evaluated by the jury based on qualitative criteria and adherence to contemporary art.
Art. 3 – Prizes
The winners will receive:
Euro 5,000.00 (five thousand / 00) for the winner of the EMERGING ART section.
Euro 5,000.00 (five thousand / 00) for the winner of the CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY section.
The jury reserves the right to award special mentions to particularly significant works in terms of quality and research.
As required by the current law, a withholding tax of 25% will be applied to the cash prizes.
The two winning works will remain the property of the Francesco Fabbri Foundation, which will host them at Casa Fabbri, the Foundation’s own residential center.
Art. 4 – Timing and mode of participation
Authors can register from May 29 to September 3, 2023, through the following mode:

From this page, you can access the online registration form, which must be completed following these instructions:
– for each work that you wish to enter, a new registration form must be completed;
– for each work entered, only one image or video can be uploaded;
– in the case of an image to be uploaded (mandatory for those submitting works in painting, drawing, graphics, sculpture, installation, photography, contemporary photography), the file must have the following characteristics: file format of JPEG, PNG or TIF, resolution of approximately 4 Mpx, file size between 1 and 5 MB;
– in the case of a video to be transmitted (mandatory for those submitting works in video art and performance), the file cannot be loaded online but must be made available, under the responsibility of the candidate, by inserting a link in the form from which it can be downloaded.
The video file must have the following characteristics: file format of MP4, MOV or AVI, maximum duration of 10 minutes;
– the application will only be accepted if all mandatory fields of the registration form are completed, at least one image/video file is attached, and the date and method of payment are included.
To better explain the artist’s poetic, it will also be necessary to attach to the online documentation: a curriculum, an explanatory concept of the work and an image of a work (not competing) explanatory of the author’s research.
Art. 5 – Registration fee
The registration fee, for the contribution towards the expenses of the Award, is equal to Euro 40.00 (forty/00 euros) for each work that the candidate intends to submit.
The payment of the registration fee must be made in Euro, without charges or commissions borne by the Award. The registration fee is non-refundable.
The payment of the registration fee can be made through:
– PAYPAL (online, directly on the website of the Fondazione Fabbri);
– BANK TRANSFER: Banca Prealpi Sanbiagio Credito Cooperativo – Società Cooperativa Italia, IBAN: IT95C0890461920006000007126, BIC code: CCRTIT2TPRE, made out to PREMIO FRANCESCO FABBRI, reason for payment: artist’s name and surname – Registration for Premio Francesco Fabbri 2023.
If the payment of the registration fee is found to be irregular, the candidate will be automatically excluded from the Award.
Art. 6 – Jury

The two juries will select 60 finalist works (30 for the EMERGING ART section and 30 for the CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY section) which will be exhibited at Villa Brandolini in Pieve di Soligo (TV) from November 25th to December 17th, 2023.
Among the finalist works, the two absolute winners, one per section, will be selected.
The jury’s decisions, based on a qualitative evaluation, are final and not appealable.
Art. 7 – Deadlines
It is possible to register for the Prize from May 29th to September 3rd, 2023.
The names of the finalists will be communicated via email and on the Francesco Fabbri Foundation website by November 1st, 2023.
The finalist artists must send, at their own expense, the selected works to Villa Brandolini in Pieve di Soligo (Tv) on November 20th and 21st, 2023. The exhibition of the finalist works will take place on November 22nd to 24th, 2023. These dates may undergo slight variations which will be promptly communicated to the artists by the organizing office. The authors must also provide for the withdrawal of the works at the end of the exhibition, on the established days (December 19th-20th-21st, 2023) otherwise the storage on site cannot be guaranteed, for organizational reasons.
Art. 8 – Exhibition of finalists and award ceremony of winners
The finalists will exhibit their works at Villa Brandolini in Pieve di Soligo (Tv) from November 25 to December 17, 2023. On November 25, during the vernissage of the exhibition, the winners of the Prize will be announced, in the presence of the public and the press.
Art. 9 – Responsibility
The Francesco Fabbri Foundation guarantees the highest expertise in the organizational phases of the Prize and will provide at its own expense an insurance coverage of the finalist works during the exhibition period.
Art. 10 – Privacy
Participants in the Francesco Fabbri Prize authorize the Francesco Fabbri Foundation to process personal data in accordance with law 675/96 (so-called Privacy law), subsequent amendments D.lgs.196/2003 (Privacy code) and GDPR on Privacy (EU regulation no. 679/2016) with amendments d.lgs. 101/18.
Participants grant the Francesco Fabbri Foundation the reproduction rights of the works and texts released at the Prize for the event website and various promotion forms, free of charge.
Art. 11 – Compliance with the Call
Registration for the Prize implies the automatic acceptance of all articles of this regulation.
